Yes, this is how I learned to do it at the class I took, but the elongation of the sun makes it so this doesn't work. The halves are different from one another, and so when you fold to mark the halves of the halves (got that?) they aren't even. There is too much fabric on one side to ease it in. It's been a very frustrating experience.
I will soldier on, however. Thanks for your helpful suggestions.
