I remember when I was teaching the 2nd grade over 45 years ago my class was reading a story about Betsy Ross and the first flag and it mentioned how she took a piece of material and cut the star. I sent my kids home with an assignment to see if they could figure out how she did it. The kids all asked their parents and I had all kinds of phone calls on how it do it. None of the kids came back with the answer, so I showed them and they were all excited to go home and show their parents that they knew how to make the star. I ran into one of the kids about 20 years later and she told me she has had more fun showing off how to cut the star.
