HI all I did an underground railroad quilt in a class I took here in my home town, it was the winter that my husband was dying from lung cancer. each week when I went to class and then made the blocks, my grandson and my darling husband would discuss the 2 or 3 blocks that I had made and decide if they liked them or not. I did get the top done that winter and they both loved it. My DH passed away in the spring, so in the fall I quilted it and gave it to my grandson for Xmas, and he is so proud of the quilt that he and grandpa talked about all that winter. I was a beautiful quilt and I used more darker colors and muted fabric like you would have had if you had made it in the 1800's. It is a very precious memory for me.
