Wow, that's one powerful poem. I totally agree, pain like that is no fun. Years ago, I lived with horrible pain that kept me up through the night and then I had to work all day. Looking back, I honestly have no clue how I ever survived it - almost didn't actually but lucked out and had a life saving surgery and haven't had that pain since, thank God and good doctors. I had a blockage forming in the pyloric valve at the bottom of my stomach and the pain was horrible and almost doubled me over. Having to work to help get two kids through college, I vowed to get it done or it would kill me trying and it almost did. What a surprise to find it was fixable by the surgery and here I am today. Wish they could find a magic cure for everyone in such pain at night. God be with you.
Hugs and Prayers.

Once the box is opened and the monster is set free,
Quickly, he goes about his work, to make a wreck of me!

He stabs and stabs and stabs once more
with sharp hot picks, does he
My muscles and joints he twists and knots
His heart if filled with glee.
Yet, still he isn't finished, he work has just begun,
My eyes he fills with sand
The water has ceased to run.

My mouth is dry, no tears to cry
No energy today,
Still, I mist find a way to make it through another day.

My poor brain explodes, no place to go,
It's captive to the bones, that hold it hostage to the pain
That goes and goes and goes!

Then he says, "I'll make it worse!"
And then the itching starts
I scratch and scratch
then scratch some more
Oh, way am I so cursed?

Noxema to the rescue
Oh yes, it is so cool!
My skin greedily soaks it in
Relief from this monster cruel

Pills I must take daily
They are my constant friend
For if I should forget them,
This misery will never end.

At last the monster tires
He too must take a rest
as he lays in wait in a restless state
and plans his next attack.
