Bettyd, I have searched the internet and have only found one pattern and that was more difficult than my ability level. A dear friend on the board mailed me a pattern, but again, I'm having trouble trying to figure it out. I have never followed a pattern before, and am really stressing over this. I have never done paper piecing either. I even tried to create my own pattern, but that isn't going well either. I wish I could help, but am coming up empty. Guess I'm just too dumb to do this swap. :-(
NO ! NO ! NO ! We do not allow that kind of talk here  What are you having problems with ? Ask lots of questions everyone here will help  That is the only way to learn
Oh, Sharon b, I'm just so stumped. I haven't done applique, paper piecing, and haven't even followed a pattern before. I don't even know what to ask for. I won't give up just yet, but am not optimistic. I keep asking myself, "What was I thinking signing up for a swap that wasn't squares or rectangles!!" I should have voted for the garden theme! LOL Thank you for caring. Here are pictures of my feeble attempts so far so you will understand how really badly it is going. My next step is to attempt hand applique. BTW, I have several yards of the balloon fabric - anyone want some? lol

The fabric on the left is balloon fabric - on the right is my first attempt at machine applique sample on denim scrap

These 4 are my attempts at creating my own pattern. Pretty sad!
