Hi Twisted, Guess what --- I used the same size !!! 5.5 ". The first thing I made was a hand pieced pot holder. I gave it to my mother. She never used it!!! Ever since that first project I tend to go back to the 9 patch. It's so easy. I saw the tutorial for the DNP on Missouriquiltco.com and decided to make one. I had the print and plaid fabric in my 10 yr old stash and purchased the accent colors to match. I do have to add the borders. I've been pulling fabric for a kids DNP for my grandsons. I'm going to do it in flannel then just back it with polar fleece. I teach sometimes where I work part time and The photo shows the quilt I did for my first class. I designed it myself. A 9 Patch !! Theres so much you can do with a 9 Patch!
