I hand quilt without a hoop. I find it less cumbersome and easier to handle. I am only a begginer. I have finished a crib quilt by outlining all the figures. It is much more relaxing. It not only calms me down but it calms my dog down too, because I am so calm that it translates to her. I watch t.v. this way because the tv is so boring.
