When mass producing HST, I prefer to use the Wonder Cut Ruler 'method'. Have you seen it?
I sew the strips together FIRST, cut the HST out of that, then press open. I sometimes have problems with the beginning and ending of the seams going away from the 1/4" seam allowance and this method helps me.
