Maybe she wasn't keeping it a secret. In the fuss and bother of raising
children, it's way too easy to remember all the little things we have
stuck away that belonged to our ancestors. Maybe she just remembered
it while thinking of what she should clean out before moving/having company/
having an inspection/workers in, etc. There area a lot of reasons. Why not
simply ask her? That is, if you don't think she is sensitive about something
that happened to or by these same ancestors.
There is a history here. Her dislike of my father and his family (even though they were married for over 40 yrs and were still married when he died) and her disdain for her father's family.........where these items came from makes me make that statement. She just moved 2 yrs ago....I KNOW it was her husband that found the stuff and made her give it to me. I didn't know until last year that I have a half sister. Mom still claims to not know her name....even though they were in contact for over 10 yrs. I'll probably never find my half-sister...she'd be in her late 60s or 70s now, and when asked my mother says she felt it was no one's business. (he had the daughter before they ever met) I disagree. And to say my father hasn't rested in his grave is putting it mildly!
