You are so right. Lived in So. Ca for 55 years, and you barely notice them, unless, like you said, something falls on your head. When the 1970's (was that the Northridge one?), hit, I was in college and actually fell out of bed. Ran to my roommate's room and she was still sleeping away! She never felt a thing!!!. I worked in so many highrise buildings, they would roll for hours after a good earthquake would hit.

I think it is a lot safer to live in CA with earthquakes, than tornados, hurricanes and flooding. :|
