My quilt guild has a yearly challenge. This year it was "It Takes a Village". Everyone chose the storefront of their choice, but there were requirements regarding plantings, where the sky would start, living creatures, etc. You would pick the building you wanted but could otherwise be as creative as you wanted. My sister is an artist, so I chose the theme a watercolor gallery. Her original pictures were scanned and reduced then printed on fabric to put into the windows. She also teaches children watercolors at her house under a tree during the summer months. Her birthday is this week - and she will be so surprised! It won second place, though I think every entry should have won a ribbon - they were all wonderful and creative! (Did I mention the finished quilt is 14" square?)
