I would hold off on the vinegar since it sets some dyes. Before you start wiping the whole surface and maybe damage it, use a q-tip with whatever cleaner you are going to try. I'd try the water first (try the least damaging substance first then work your way down to the most). Always, test small first. Using chemicals of any kind can get unhappy results if you aren't careful.
