I'm sorry that he can't appreciate a beautiful work of art like that - and handmade by you, too! There are so many soldiers and veterans who would very much appreciate it. I wonder if you could ask him to donate it to a veteran's group if he will not hang it. I'm not sure I could do it myself, but could you ask him what he WOULD like - specifically? If you are willing to risk it, you may ask him to choose a pattern and fabric next time. You will have many others to quilt for who will appreciate the time, effort, and love that went into it.
