I have made one . I found it to be one of the easier quilts for a few reasons. It is still one of my favorite quilt I have made.
1. There are two different blocks, so its not like making 60 or more of the same thing.
2. The 'snow ball ' block goes very quickly.
3 The snow ball block has a fairly good size area for some nice quilting designs.
4. It can be made scrapy, just paying attention to light and dark for placement.
5. I used a very large scale print for the border ( 12 inches wide) and then selected the fabrics of the blocks. this is a bit reverse of how most select the fabrics, but it worked out great.
Mine was inspired By Eleanor Burns. She makes everything look simple. Her patterns are usually fairly easy ( once you can sew a 1/4 inch seam). I always recomend her books and patterns to new quilters.
