It's not anything you did wrong!! It's your dad's problem. I pray that sometime soon he will see his mistake.

I made 2 throws for my in-laws and my father-in-law didn't even unfold them but stood up and put them on his chair and sat back down. I never saw them again until he went to the hospital last month and I found that he is now using them nightly.
Some people are just selfish and unreasonable. I pray that yours and mine will change!
