************************************************** ********
RECIPE: CHINESE SALAD
************************************************** *********

INGREDIENTS:
1 head cabbage
1/2 bunch green onions, chopped
2 packages Ramen Noodles; uncooked and broken into pieces
(discard seasonings)
2 tablespoons sunflower seeds
1 cup sliced almonds
1/4 cup margarine
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup oil
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce

DIRECTIONS:
Chop cabbage in medium pieces, add chopped green onions. Brown noodles, sunflower seeds, almonds in margarine (set aside to cool). Boil sugar, oil, vinegar, and soy sauce, cool completely. Toss everything together just before
serving.

NOTE: I like to wash & dry the cabbage, & make the dressing, and refrigerate. Then make the noodle mixture and set aside. If you are serving enough people to use this whole recipe, then mix all just before you serve. When there are a small # of people, just mix enough for each, because this does not keep well after it sets for any length of time, once it is dressed, and definitely doesn't keep well overnight. If all components are kept separately in the frig, they stay nice and fresh for future salads.

Some recipes call for using the seasoning packet in the dressing, but I tried it once, and didn't like it. Besides, it is loaded with sodium, and you get that in the soy sauce, so why double up.
