When my husband was in the Navy, they were the first US military to arrive in China. They were having a formal dinner with the Chinese Navy when he was given a 100 year old egg to eat. It went down and he quietly gagged. The Chinese Admiral sitting next to him gave him another one. To be polite my husband swallowed it whole and it almost came up. The Chinese Admiral, with a twinkle in his eye said, "I wouldn't touch those disgusting things." My husband turned a light shade of green.
