I was given boxes of old scraps and partial quilts from my husband's grandmother. I found the pattern pieces cut from an issue of the Kansas City Star. Then I found these pieces that were already made by my husband's grandmother. I merely appliqued them onto the squares. Luckily there was a large piece of fabric to make the sashing and binding. Also included in the box were old flour sacks which I used as well.

It took almost a year to finish, but my husband now keeps it folded, not wanting to damage it. The fabrics are old and delicate.

I am so lucky to have been given all these treasures ... enough to last me years!
