I too have sewn my finger with the needle several times. I was lucky I had a pair of hemostats on hand. It was hard to pull it out, I had to pull it through the other side, I was so good at sewing it. Frequent hand washing is what saved me, and lots of pressure to stop the bleeding. I didn't even worry if I got blood on the quilt; it hurt too much.
