I did the same thing. Finger didn't hurt, it just stopped the machine. Could see only a piece of thread sticking from the nail. X-ray showed the needle point buried deep into the bone. Dr. had one H--- of a time removing it. Said he nearly exhausted all of his equipment in doing so. Didn't really hurt until the next morning. A bit more careful since.
