It's just easier sometimes to use a base or foundation fabric. This way none of the fabric stretches out if you're using bias. It's just like paper piecing but without the hassle of removing the paper afterwards! For those of us who hate picking out the paper, fabric foundations are great. I'd suggest you do a search here for more info. if you're unsure about this method.
