A friend of mine needed teacups for the school bookfair- about 80 of them. I took her to a thrift store - we got them for a dime each...
Another friend was looking for a sewing machine and I spotted a machine sitting on a table as we drove by a yard sale - we got her a Bernina that usually sells for over $400 at the local dealer for $35 - had she kept her mouth shut, she would have had it for $30 lol. The woman had it marked at $50 which I was happy at and we were just starting at it, looking at it and she lowered it to $40 - then I asked if we could try it out and we did and it worked then the lady lowered it to $30 and my friend thought she said $35 for some strange reason and then paid her lol. Great machine. It had only been used once or twice and was only a year old!
You guys would not believe the stuff I come upon, seriously - an entire bolt of fusible fleece for $5 - yeah, I'm still working away on that!
I used to go to a thrift store in Allentown, PA that would mark things down to like a quarter if it had been on the floor for a week. Seriously - that place would sell clothes for a nickel if they hadn't sold in a week. Man I miss that store!!
