We were making a simple block by block quilt in neon colors for my girls' bed (my daughters were helping) and there was a lot of small strips left over. After watching an episode of Sewing With Nancy, we chopped the strips into small tiny pieces (1/2 inch), sprinkled them onto some of the blocks in shapes of hearts, stars, moons and diamonds. Then we gently covered them with water soluable stabilizer and stitched over all the pieces in a zig-zag pattern. Then, when the stabilizer had dissolved, we satin stitched around the edges of the designs. We had no scraps and it came out unique and adorable. And you can do whatever design you want!
