I agree you must use a woven iron on stabilizer such as Shirt tailor. I've used others and it doesn't pay to use the cheaper stabilizer. Open up the ties and iron on the stabilizer then you can use what ever pattern you want. I like the crazy patch as I like the look with the satin tie fabric and I love using my embroidery stitches. I also like the idea of using old suit jackets for the borders. Anything goes, just be creative and let your imagination go. I have been saving ties for years to make quilts but never got the time yet. Doing too many alterations and quilts for customers. Got to go finish another t shirt quilt.
