Here is my block, from various sources, it is called the Flying Dutchman aka Whirligig aka Flyfoot and many more names. Per Delaware Quilts, to the Buddhists, the symbol represents good fortune and for the Navajo its known as the whirling log and symbolizes the four cardinal directions. There is a lot of history on this pattern as many cultures around the world have used this image! Enjoy :)
Your block is stunning. I've always admired this one, and have used it for one of my Citizen SAM quilts. Thanks for the history on it.
