A few years ago, I heard a co-worker make very disparaging remarks about a quilt that her dh's aunt made them for their wedding. She said it was ugly and that she didn't know why the aunt couldn't have bought them something useful or exchangable instead of the quilt that she will have to store for a few years before she can convince her dh to get rid of. I asked her if she considered the love and effort that went into the quilt and she said that if his aunt really loved him, she would have given them cash instead so they could get something they wanted. I completely lost respect for her. ( I wanted to call up her dh's aunt and tell her what an ungrateful spoiled brat her nephew married. )
