Our store in Pittsburg, Ks, still has a fabric dept.. I was told that as stores are remodeled, they take out the fabric dept.
We had a petition circulated to not take out our dept., at the last store re-model. We had over 12,000 signatures. We also reminded the co., that we are a rural area, and have lots of people who sew. It seemed to help.
