One year at school, I brought out all my 4 inch squares, let the kids pick which 2 to sew together, I did the sewing (they were 8-11) and then they kept going until each had made a row. Then they decided how to put the rows together, then we tied it and donated it to our local children's hospital. For the backing we used a white sheet. Each child traced his or her hands and colored them and wrote a note. It really turned out cute.
