Welcome from Illinois. My first year of typing we had the old manual ones, got a few selectrics the following year but only the best were allowed to use them on a regular basis. The year after I graduated everyone had them. But the keyboards have changed! The one I'm typing on right now is split wider in the middle and curved. It's also raised about 2 inches and has a wrist rest. It's supposed to be all ergonomic and does seem to relieve the wrist stress a lot! Enjoy being aboard.
