I have quilted using Bottom Line as a top and bottom thread, and used a Topstitch 80/12 with no problems at all. Superior recommend a Topstitch 14/90 though if you have a quilting cotton in the needle.[/quote]
Ditto - although I use a 12 needle in either case: a sharp, top stitch or other good point. I never use Universal needles for machine piecing or quilting, actually I never use them at all - not sharp enough.
