I started using my walking foot for piecing a couple quilts back because with my regular foot my top fabric always ended up getting pushed a little at the ends. I thought the walking foot was like a crutch and that I just wasn't skilled enough to use a regular foot for piecing. Come to find out now it's a pretty common practice and I'm not alone! I feel so much better now! :)
This is the greatest place in the world to ask questions and never, never, never do I feel as if I asked something stupid or have I been made to feel embarassed! Also....my machine a Singer Inspiration did not come with a walking foot but I plan on ordering one asap!
