Wait!!! Don't mix vinegar and baking soda together or you'll end up with a science experiment in your washing machine...remember making volcanos for science fairs in elementary school??? But...this is a great way to clean your drains...
I wonder if it would work in the toilet to get it clean?
Yes, it works wonderfully as a toilet cleaner....put on the baking soda quite thickly, spray on some cheap white vinegar, leave for 20mins or overnight if possible and scrub....voila! sparkling loo (toilet). You can do the same with sink drains, 'cept pour over the vinegar rather than spray. Freshens everything up beautifully.
P.S. Don't toss the polyesters....just make a scrappy for the car or pets or picnic quilt. If you really don't want to go that way and they are retro, they are collector's dreams, specially for young designers....see if anyone is looking for fabric on trading posts, etc.
