Have only used it twice, but followed directions & folded twice, cut off 1st 1/2" to straighten, then cut strips.No reason you can't use smaller fabric & fold once.As I said, start at the little wider spot at beginning of row & cut,& stop at the little wider spot at other end.Directions show how to use it.
