Well how about that. Loads of the houses have really pretty tiles on the front. It seems its an Andalucian thing. I really like it and the houses always look clean, they wash the tiles down and paint the rest of the house nearly every year and in some villages its in their lease that they must paint every year. They really are fanatic about it.

Elle: The little town that we will be retiring to in the mountains of North Carolina DOES have quilts on the buildings and barns and such around town. Its possible with a grant for Handmade in America. They are wooden "quilts" and each one is usually a pattern special to that person. Like the realtor in town has the house block on their building! So even if you go to town and don't have time to stop at the quilt shop, you can still get an eyeful of quilts!

There is a tiny village up above town called BeeLog. It was a logging town until that petered out. The elemntary school is called Beelog Elementary and they have the log cabin block on the side of the school building.
I thought that was pretty cool.
