I didn't have to register! I just voted and got a message that my vote was recorded. I read that you had to register if you wanted to leave a message or comment.

Anyway, Mark's votes were at 29% and Jessica's were at 71% ! Woo hoo!

Since I didn't have to register, does that mean I can vote more than once? C'mon, people, let's DO this!

I watched a PBS program over the weekend about how, years ago, a holocaust survivor, now in her late '80's and living in Sweden, sponsored a young man from Kenya to go to high school. He eventually graduated from Harvard, joined the UN and is now one of the organizers of a UN group that gives scholarships to deserving young people to go to high school who would otherwise not be able to afford to go. High school is not free! The children are recommended by their elementary school teachers, then they prepare for and take a competitive exam and vie for the 10 scholarships offered. (This was several years ago.) It was absolutely heartbreaking for those many children who did not make it. How disappointed they were, the tears streaking down their cheeks. They were very, very poor and every one of them wanted to go to school so they could get a good job and make money to help their families who were in dire need. This was really, really sad. To make matters worse, this was all happening in the midst of the horrible politics-based genocide that was taking place in Kenya.

I applaud Jessica for the enormous task she has undertaken and sincerely hope she gets this award.

What do you say we all help her out? Only takes a second to vote!
