Lol, I wish I had a sewing room... That's just a corner of my bedroom. I use my ironing board when I need a work space and my sewing machine sits on my computer desk.

I'm so glad so many liked the idea. For those who wanted to know how I made it:

Find a piece of fabric a bit less than twice the length of your ruler and a few inches wider (this will be covered completely so don't use anything nice, I used a piece of muslin). Then take one end and start sewing fabric to it, as if you were paper piecing. This tutorial explains the idea, I just went with the shapes of the scraps I had. P.S. I love looking at this blog, it rocks: http://www.filminthefridge.com/2009/...pieced-method/

Once I had enough scrap covered fabric to cover 2/3's or so up the ruler I started sewing scraps to the top of the back side of the foundation cloth, so that when it was folded, all you can see is the two covered bits. Then I sewed double fold bias tape to each short edge and folded the cloth, then sewed bias tape to the long edges, securing the sides at the same time. I put two rivets in the top so it could hang from some nails.

Cheers!
