For my aunt's 85th birthday, I made her an "The Apples of Her Eyes" quilt (embroidered this at the top). It was an apple tree with the 17 photos (printed on computer photo paper/cloth) of each of her great grandchildren sewn in an apple on the tree. I sewed in rick-rack "Great Grandma...her name..." at the bottom. I am now in the process of adding the name, age, and birth date of each child on the quilt below their pictures. I hope that it will become a family heirloom in her family. The pattern was a modification of an "Art to Heart" pattern by Nancy Halvorsen called "In a Pear Tree Quilt" which is a 12 Days of Christmas Panel Quilt. Obviously, I changed the pears to apples and the pictures in place of the panels. One apple is blank, waiting for a newborn.
