I use those plastic three-drawer bins. I fold my fabric using my 6 x 24-inch ruler, which makes it a perfect fit for those drawers. If I have a project in mind, I put the fabric and the pattern into plastic shoe boxes. Some projects require larger bins, but most fit into the shoe box size until I'm ready to start on them.
I too use the plastic drawers, but stack them on top of one another so they are almost to the ceiling. Had hubby screw them into the wall for safety. I also have about 10 old suitcases which I keep under my work table. They are fun to collect and I just tie a tag on the handle to remind me what is inside...mostly batting and finished quilts.
