I just traded my 6500 in on the new Horizon. You asked if anyone missed having the free arm and I'm not sure I understand your question. The Horizon accessory box pulls out and leaves a perfect free arm for hemming, etc. I have to say I've only had the machine a week and so far I have NO regrets. My second machine is a Viking Designer SE, which I love for everything, including embroidery. I also have a small Baby Lock I bought to take to classes, but so far I haven't used it at all & have had it for about 6 months. I'm just too spoiled by all the things my larger machines do and end up taking the Janome everytime. I also had a Bernina 153Q and sold it after only 6 months as it was so stiff to sew on; I just couldn't adjust to the differences between it and my Viking (Des. I at that time) No matter which Janome you go with, I'm quite sure you will enjoy it. And believe me when I tell you 'there will always be a new machine comeing out that you think you just have to have'. I got past the 6600, but the Horizon 7700 zapped my heart. Good luck with your decision.
