I myself am pretty new to the quilting world, and have received wonderful advice from other more experienced quilters. On that note, I would suggest going to the local quilt shop or even google the local quilt groups and get into one of those- they are a wonderful asset to the beginning quilter. And, make sure you have a good rotary cutter (65mm and a 45mm are good, Olfa and Fiskars), a large cutting mat, and a clear 36" length quilter's ruler for cutting. Also, if you do lots of quilting, you will need to have plenty of rotary blades, as they tend to get dull if you cut a lot. I do a ton of cutting, and have to have a stash as a result. Let me know what specifically you need to know in terms of cutting, I may be able to pass on some of the good advice given to me. :0)
