Here's my two cents about embroidery-only machines: You are working from a tiny screen on the machine, which isn't easy to see. If you have the option of an embroidery module attachment, which generally requires the use of a laptop computer, it's less convenient to have to use the laptop, but much easier on the eyes because you have a larger screen to work with, and better control with a larger keyboard.
