Hello and Welcome from Louisiana! You can find alot of inspiration here for "easy" quilts to make. That is so sweet that you and your husband put a quilt together. Fabric will come your way if you keep an eye out, try craigslist or freecycle for your area, thrift shops too. Many people use jeans or cotton shirts before they progress to other fabric lines.
