I embroidered 9 or 12 nursery rhyme quilt blocks and used gingham between for my oldest daughter who is 37 yrs. old and she still has it. I saved it. Back in that time I didn't know what I was doing as all I sewed was garments. I used an old blanket and in 1973 I used a brushed nylon fabric for the backing. 10 or 11 years ago when she was pregnant with her first child, I I found it, took it apart as I had tied it and replaced the batting and the backing. It looks good as new and she loves it. She now has an heirloom to pass on to her children. The sad part is I had 3 children after her but I was too busy that I never made them a baby quilt. I am making up for it now as all my grandbabies get one from me and since MY mother also quilts they get one from her too.
