The ice at the edge refroze trapping one of the geese about 20 ft away from the causeway and an enterprising bald eagle took full advantage of the opportunity. I saw him sitting on top of his prize having a fine goose breakfast! It was early enough in the morning that I was able to come to a full stop and just gawk at him. What a sight!
They truly are scavenger birds.
A good clue that there is road kill up ahead is the rise of bald eagles as you approach.
We always get a good show when fish guts are put out on the beach. Sometimes the eagles will get so greedy they can barely fly away.
