I agree - I haven't owned an electric can opening. When we inherited Grandma's stuff, that was one of the first things to go. Besides, how would my kitties know when I'm opening tuna if it wasn't for the can opener? LOL. So sorry you hurt your finger; maybe your guild can get started for you until you are totally mended!?!
