I don't believe there is such a resource available, unfortunately. Each project may require a different type of batting, depending on its intended use. That will come with experience, but for now, when you have a project in mind, I'd suggest asking someone for a recommendation per project.
You might want one type of batting for a wallhanging, something entirely different for a kids quilt, etc.
As for BRANDS... I'm also a Quilters Dream fan, they're battings are wonderful.
