It took me about 6 months to make. I made the turquoise star first, then it sat for about 4 months, while I was working on some other projects ( one side of a duvet for our comforter, a OBW for friend's cabin, a OBW for my son). I was thinking about how to include the other fabric I was to use and finally decided to make more stars in more colors and the expanded design grew in my head. Since I pretty much made it up as I went, getting the final layout was a bit tricky - figuring out how it would fit together and where I'd have to add in rectangles of background fabric. I made it in 4 sections, thinking it would be too large to fmq the whole thing with my sewing machine. In the end I sewed the sections together and did all the background fmq on my reg. machine. I had an offer from a friend w/ a long arm, that I could use her long arm whenever I wanted, but decided to just do it on my own sewing machine. It took me a week to do all the fmq of the background, sewing in the evenings after supper until bedtime.
