mine (Ashleys' ocean) with the appliqued sea life i quilted in waves to follow the wave of the ocean. many bargellos look wonderful with a flowing all over meandering that helps the movement flow across the quilt. try looking at pictures on line or in books of many different bargellos. i've never seen one that was stitch-in-the-ditch...that seems like it would take away from the flow of the quilt...kind of (box it) for lack of better descriptive word...stop the flow...i would like to find a picture of one done that way just to see how that works out...so if you do decide to sid...take lots of pictures :)
