I have used the fancy decorative stitches with bright variegated thread to top stitch the binding down & I have used a plain old straight stitch very close to the edge with thread that matches the binding--black is my favorite. I think they look great. Oh, and I always use my walking foot to put on binding. That helps tremendously no matter which stitch I use.
