I just gently smooth them out with my hand. If I have not started sewing and discover them, with the 505 you can lift up the backing and smooth it out again.
I always use the 505
You can do the same thing with the June Taylor from Walmart. Since I do my spray basting on a shower curtain in the grass mine comes out bumpy. Then I take my basted quilt to the basement and lift half of the layer and resmooth it. Then work my way around so it is all smooth. Works for me. K
